Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has launched the Proactive & Accessible Transformation of Healthcare (PATH) initiative in collaboration with major AI and tech leaders including General Catalyst, NVIDIA, Hippocratic AI, and Sword Health. The program is designed to accelerate the NHS’s “three shifts” — moving care from hospital to community, analogue to digital, and treatment to prevention — through the integration of cutting-edge AI and machine learning tools. Initial efforts will focus on reducing elective care backlogs by redesigning the patient journey end-to-end, using AI-driven prioritization, virtual care platforms, and remote monitoring to deliver faster, more coordinated care with improved outcomes.
A central component of the initiative is the deployment of Hippocratic AI’s safety-focused generative AI healthcare agents, which have already completed over 2.49 million patient calls with high satisfaction scores. These agents specialize in non-diagnostic, patient-facing outreach and are powered by the company’s Polaris safety architecture, positioning Hippocratic AI as a key enabler of the PATH program’s goal to humanize and scale care. CEO Munjal Shah emphasized their potential to usher in “the age of healthcare abundance” in the UK. By combining AI expertise, clinical innovation, and scalable infrastructure, PATH aims to create a replicable model that modernizes NHS service delivery for a more proactive and equitable healthcare future.
