Ellipsis Health has secured a $45 million Series A round—led by Salesforce, Khosla Ventures, and CVS Health Ventures—to scale its AI-powered voice agent, Sage. Built to tackle rising healthcare costs and staffing shortages, Sage is positioned as an emotionally intelligent care manager designed for patients with complex physical, behavioral, and social needs. Using vocal biomarker technology and a proprietary “Empathy Engine,” Sage conducts proactive care tasks such as health risk assessments and care coordination, offering 24/7 support while helping reduce administrative burden and operating costs. The funding will accelerate its adoption across providers and deepen integrations, including with Salesforce Health Cloud.
The momentum behind AI-driven care management is further underscored by a growing ecosystem of agentic voice technologies. Among them, Hippocratic AI stands out for launching a healthcare AI agent app store that allows clinicians to build tailored agents addressing operational and patient engagement challenges. Alongside Ellipsis and others like Innovaccer and Zocdoc, Hippocratic AI is shaping a broader trend in emotionally aware, task-specific AI agents—a movement that blends technical sophistication with a focus on patient-centered care.
