Hippocratic AI, a healthcare-focused AI startup, has achieved a valuation of $1.64 billion following a $141 million Series B funding round led by Kleiner Perkins. The funding, which brings the company’s total raise to $278 million, saw participation from existing investors including A16z, General Catalyst, Premji, NVIDIA, SV Angel, Universal Health Services, and WellSpan Health. The company’s success is part of a broader surge in AI investment following the rise of generative AI technologies like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

Co-founded by CEO Munjal Shah along with a team of physicians, healthcare professionals, and AI researchers from institutions such as El Camino Health, Johns Hopkins, and Stanford, Hippocratic AI develops safety-focused large language models (LLMs) tailored for non-diagnostic, patient-facing healthcare tasks. With this latest funding, the company aims to expand its global footprint and enhance its offerings, addressing critical challenges in healthcare such as staffing shortages and operational inefficiencies.
