3 health systems back $3.5B AI startup

Hippocratic AI, a healthcare-focused generative AI startup, has secured $126 million in Series C funding, pushing its valuation to $3.5 billion. The round included investments from three major health systems—Cincinnati Children’s, Universal Health Services, and WellSpan Health—underscoring growing confidence in the company’s safety-first approach to healthcare automation. Hippocratic AI’s technology is already used by more than a dozen U.S. health systems, supporting care teams with patient-facing AI agents designed for scheduling, chronic condition management, and post-discharge communication.

The participating health systems highlighted real-world applications of Hippocratic AI’s agents, such as WellSpan Health’s “Ana,” an AI care assistant, and Universal Health Services’ use of automated patient follow-up calls. Cincinnati Children’s executives praised the startup’s focus on safety and scale, noting how its empathetic AI agents enhance family engagement and care accessibility. Hippocratic AI said it will use the new funding to expand customer deployments, accelerate innovation within its safety architecture, and explore mergers and acquisitions to strengthen its platform.
