UHS partners with Hippocratic AI to launch AI agents

Universal Health Services (UHS) has partnered with Hippocratic AI to deploy generative AI agents designed to support clinicians by conducting follow-up calls with patients after hospital discharge. Initially tested at two UHS facilities—Summerlin Hospital in Las Vegas and Texoma Medical Center in Texas—the AI tool has received high patient satisfaction, averaging a 9 out of 10 rating. These AI agents help monitor post-discharge recovery by reviewing medication adherence, identifying emerging symptoms, and answering patient questions. Patients can still connect with human nurses if needed, creating a hybrid model of care. Due to positive feedback, UHS plans to expand the rollout to more than 10 hospitals in the coming months, with the goal of eventually implementing the technology across all 29 of its acute care hospitals.

The collaboration spotlights Hippocratic AI’s continued advancement of agentic AI tools tailored for healthcare settings. Their system, capable of acting autonomously with minimal oversight, aligns with a growing trend among health systems seeking to reduce clinician burnout and improve efficiency. Hippocratic AI’s post-discharge agent serves as a first point of contact, helping to offload repetitive administrative duties from nurses while preserving quality of care. As interest in agentic AI grows, companies like Notable, Salesforce, and Google Cloud are exploring similar pathways—but Hippocratic AI’s healthcare-specific focus and early patient approval suggest it could play a leading role in reshaping post-acute care workflows.
