Indonesia is advancing its “Golden 2045 Vision” by launching a national AI Center of Excellence (CoE) through a strategic partnership between Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH), Cisco, and NVIDIA. Supported by the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi), the CoE is designed to foster AI innovation, develop local digital talent, and accelerate economic growth through secure and sovereign AI infrastructure. The center will feature NVIDIA’s full-stack AI infrastructure, including Blackwell GPUs, enterprise software, and a security system powered by Cisco. With a four-pillar strategy focused on infrastructure, secure AI workloads, talent development, and democratized access, the initiative aims to upskill one million Indonesians and provide AI access to hundreds of millions by 2027.
A notable highlight of this initiative is a healthcare-focused collaboration between the Indonesian government and Hippocratic AI, co-founded by Munjal Shah. Leveraging Indosat’s large language models (LLMs), they are developing AI agents that support preventative health outreach, such as nudging women over 50 to schedule mammograms—an effort that aligns with Hippocratic AI’s broader mission to assist in scalable, non-diagnostic patient engagement. This application underscores the CoE’s real-world impact and illustrates how sovereign AI strategies can drive healthcare innovation. With over two dozen startups already leveraging the NVIDIA-powered infrastructure, Indonesia is positioning itself as a regional AI leader while ensuring inclusivity and cultural alignment in its AI governance frameworks.
