Hippocratic AI has initiated beta testing for its safety-focused Large Language Model (LLM) tailored for healthcare applications. This generative AI-powered healthcare provider emphasizes voice-based, patient-facing, non-diagnostic services. Over 40 healthcare organizations, including Memorial Hermann Health System, University of Vermont Health Network, Fraser Health, and Side Health, are participating in rigorous internal evaluations to ensure the model’s safety and effectiveness before broader deployment.
The beta testing focuses on several key areas: chronic care management, post-discharge follow-ups for conditions like congestive heart failure and kidney disease, wellness and social determinants of health surveys, health risk assessments, and pre-operative outreach. Healthcare professionals, including physicians and nurses, are leading the testing within their respective organizations, assessing the AI’s conversational abilities, medical accuracy, adherence to scripts, empathy, and listening skills. This collaborative effort aims to address healthcare workforce shortages by enabling AI to handle routine tasks, thereby allowing human clinicians to concentrate on more complex patient care needs.
