American Nurses Foundation awarding three $10K grants for AI research

The American Nurses Foundation is offering three $10,000 grants to support nurse-led research on artificial intelligence, with funding provided through a partnership with Hippocratic AI. The grants are intended to strengthen early-career nurse leadership by supporting projects that explore how AI can be applied in nursing, including AI agents for patient preparation, nurse-friendly tools, and strategies to increase adoption while reducing skepticism. Nurses at all career stages may apply, though preference will be given to bedside nurses with several years of experience and support from a C-suite nurse leader. Applications are due February 17, 2026.

This initiative comes as AI use grows across healthcare, even though many organizations still lack mature governance frameworks. While most health systems report using AI internally and running pilot projects in clinical and financial areas, few have fully developed strategies for oversight. Physicians are also increasingly open to AI, although many remain cautious. The American Nurses Foundation hopes the grant program will generate practical, evidence-based solutions that show how nurse-led innovation can improve care and support the nursing profession.
